A new permanent space station in Earth orbit will be completed very soon with the latest mission of the China Manned Space Agency.

The Chinese Tiangong space station is scheduled to be ready by the end of this year, with the latest mission being to add two laboratory modules to the Tianhe main living space launched in April 2021.

To oversee this operation, three Chinese astronauts, Commander Chen Dong, and fellow astronauts Liu Yang and Cai Xuzhe, part of the Shenzhou 14 crew, are now on the space station.

A spacecraft launched the crew into space from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center on the edge of the Gobi Desert at 10:44 a.m. Sunday, June 5, 2022.

The new Wentian and Mengtian modules to be attached to the existing module (Tianhe) will also be launched into space in July and October this year.

The Chinese space agency plans to launch another Shenzhou 15 mission that will join the current crew for 3 to 5 days. This will mark the first time the space station will have 6 members on board.
