LCRD system, 10 times faster with communications will launch next month
News! Very good news! LCRD, the system developed by NASA for better communications, will be launched into space on December 5, 2021. This satellite system is one of NASA's most developed and will provide the connection between the ISS and NASA. All communications between the ISS (International Space Station) and other astronauts with NASA will be made thanks to this system. Until now, NASA is talking to ISS astronauts or other astronauts on radio waves, which were usually difficult to walk or interrupted.
Thanks to this system that will be chosen next month, NASA will be able to communicate 10 or 10 times better with astronauts than it has done so far. Especially since NASA wants to send astronauts back to the moon and this time to stay longer on the moon, we need a system to communicate quickly and clearly with them. LCRD was also developed so that astronauts could send much clearer pictures or videos through this system. Until now, the photos or videos sent were not so clear, but from now on they will be seen in color, clear and will be transmitted very quickly.
The full name of LCRD is Laser Communications Relay Demonstration. And, as you hear from the name, you will realize how the information will be transmitted faster. By laser. More clearly, astronauts on the moon or in the future on other planets will have devices (most likely) through which they send information to the satellite, which transmits information by laser to Earth, to NASA. The astronauts on the ISS do not need devices, there will be installed (most likely just a device) through which they transmit information that satellite transmits to Earth, to NASA. This is how communications between astronauts and space agencies should work.
In addition to these huge benefits, this satellite is also small. This means that when it is launched with the rocket, the racehta will fit many more things and that the rocket will be able to take off much easier, the satellite being also easy. The launch will be broadcast on NASA TV and NASA social networks. It will also be broadcast on the Bailey Universe website.
